  • Sri Lanka come into this T20 series buoyed by their superb 3-0 series win in the ODIs and they will be just as keen to do well in this format of the game ahead of the T20 World Cup later this year.
  • They appear to have a wealth of quality options right now as they are afforded the luxury of being able to leave out Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Oshada Fernando, who enjoyed good performances in the series against Pakistan last year, while talented opener Danushka Gunathilaka remains absent through injury.
  • They have brought back all-rounder Thisara Perera after he missed the series in India while they have decided to go with Nuwan Pradeep rather than Kasun Rajitha, who has failed to convince in what is a strong looking squad for this series.

  • West Indies will be hoping to bounce back and do much better in these two T20 matches after being outplayed by the hosts for much of the one-day series which they were whitewashed in.
  • The squad looks significantly different to the 50-over team as they have recalled Andre Russell after not featuring for 18 months while Shai Hope and Fabian Allen both rejoin the squad after missing their recent T20 matches through injury.
  • Shimron Hetmyer is in the 14-man squad also after being left out of the one-day squad due to him failing to pass the required fitness standards that the Windies have recently implemented so he will likely be keen to impress and work his way back into the reckoning.

Sri Lanka were clearly the better team in the one-day series but the Windies have a vastly different set of players at their disposal for these T20s. With the likes of Simmons, Russell, Hetmyer, Dwayne Bravo and Oshane Thomas, they will be keen to bounce back and avenge the ODI whitewash. That may be easier said than done, however, as the hosts have plenty of quality in their ranks too. Confidence is high and with conditions favouring the home side, expect Sri Lanka to build on their ODI form and get the win.
